Cut, punch holes, spin… and the animal comes to life!? This fun hands-on craft lets children experience the basics of animation through play.
It’s simple to make. First, cut out the circular animal parts. Then, use a hole punch to make two holes. Glue the front and back pieces together, aligning the holes carefully. (Tip: The image will be flipped, so use the triangle marks to help line them up.)
Print on slightly thick drawing paper for best results — it makes the final piece more durable and easier to handle.
Finally, thread a large rubber band through the holes — and it’s ready! When you spin it, the animal appears to move like magic.

Cutting the circles is suitable from around age 3.5 and up. Also includes outline versions for coloring — perfect for older children. We recommend using a fine-tipped black marker for detailed coloring.
