Chigiri-e - Children's Hairstyles

Have you ever heard of Chigiri-e? It is a fun art form born in Japan in which pictures are drawn by tearing origami paper. In English, it is called “Paper tearing art using origami paper. It is very popular among children because it is easy and allows them to use their imagination. Tear origami paper into desired shapes and paste them with glue to create a design. It is like a collage!

If origami is not available in your area, colored flyers or newspapers can be used. Children will be even more motivated if they have glittery origami paper.
Tearing origami into small pieces requires finger strength. Once you can tear it into small pieces, you can make a nice collage.

It is also fun to make collages using yarn threads instead of paper.

Print on A4 size, slightly thicker drawing paper.
Recommended age: 3.5 years old and up.
