This activity allows children to cut out a coiled snake with scissors and decorate it with stickers or coloring. It’s a great way to practice cutting curves and improve scissor control. Once completed, a hole can be punched at the tail, and a string can be threaded through to turn it into a charming garland.
Both left-coiled and right-coiled designs are included, so children can freely choose which one they want to cut, regardless of their dominant hand. There are two types of designs available: one using 15mm (0.6 inches) and 8mm (0.3 inches) stickers (PDF page 1), and another using only 15mm (0.6 inches) stickers (PDF page 2). Print and use the one that suits your preference.
If stickers are not available, children can also enjoy this activity as a coloring sheet. However, cutting out the coiled snake neatly may be challenging for children under four years old. Younger children can focus on the sticker decoration, while an adult assists with cutting.
For best results, print the templates on A4-sized colored paper or colored cardstock. If using it as a coloring activity, plain white paper works well too. This is a digital download product, so scissors and stickers are not included.
