Around the World Sewing Cards | Japan, United Kingdom, France, Italy, United States & China

This is a new type of sewing card activity that lets children enjoy traveling around famous landmarks of the world with needle and thread.

In this set, children travel through six countries: Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, the United States, and China. Like a board game, they follow the path from START to GOAL while visiting famous buildings and tourist attractions in each country.

“Which country is next?”
“I’ve seen this building before!”

These kinds of conversations naturally arise, adding the joy of travel and curiosity about the world to the sewing activity.

In reality, trains would never follow a route like this, but that is part of the fun. Children can enjoy a little imagination while becoming familiar with maps, countries, and cultures.

By punching holes along the black dots and sewing with thread, children develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and concentration. Reaching the goal also gives a wonderful sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.

The download includes three versions:

• Japanese version
• English version
• No-name version

Materials needed: a tapestry needle, thread, scissors, a push pin (or thumbtack), and a cork board.

Place the sheet on top of the cork board and use the push pin (or thumbtack) to make holes at the black dots. (For children under 3 years old, an adult should prepare the holes in advance.)
